Weekly Task Force Meeting
The West Athens / Westmont task Force, began its planning meetings in the later part of December 2009. At this meeting we decided where and when we would meet. We contacted Chester Washington Golf Course, shared our mission with the management and we secured it each Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon in the banquet hall where we currently meet today.
At these earlier meetings, we strategized and finalized our vision, mission, goals and objectives.
During the meeting we broke into focus / subcommittee groups and designed the current format of our agenda. It was decided then that we would not create an inflexible agenda but we would structure our meeting in a way that would adjust to the needs of the community in those meetings. Additionally, we wanted to identify and develop the natural leaders of the community.
Our Task Force consist of local residents, businesses, Political Officials, The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department officials, Homeowners, Community Activists, Gang Interventionists and volunteers. We meet because each and every person in attendance, is dedicated to the overall goal of the task force – ” To Strive towards a Healthy Community”.
